Seeds of Change: Enterprise Development Programme


The first step in building a lasting supplier development relationship is ensuring the entrepreneurs and their businesses have the education and support required for start-up success.


This is achieved through Seeds of Africa’s Seeds of Change Enterprise Development Program, a comprehensive step-by-step initiative that since its inception in 2019, has helped more than 229 individuals develop and grow their own small businesses.


The program offers various components to ensure the holistic development of the beneficiaries:

Micro MBA

Equips participants with essential business management skills and knowledge, including key business principles, financial management, marketing strategies, and operational efficiency.

Siyazakhela Business Literacy Program

Imparts general business skills, provides smart phones, and offers technology training, enabling participants to access digital resources and stay connected.

Ongoing Coaching and Mentorship

Provides personalized guidance and support from experienced mentors who offer valuable insights, industry knowledge, and advice on business challenges.

Access to the Seeds of Africa Business Hub

Creates a collaborative environment where entrepreneurs can network, share ideas, and access resources such as internet connection, computers, and printers.

Seed Capital

Provides financial support to businesses that demonstrate competence and the ability to utilize the capital effectively for business growth.

the Adopt-a-Creche Program


Seeds of Africa is actively involved in uplifting communities through its support of a growing network of early childhood development centers.


Through its Adopt-A-Creche Programme, Seeds of Africa currently serves 167 creches in South African communities, benefiting over 8,000 children aged 1 month to 6 years.


The program focuses on Early Childhood Development, providing essential educational materials, conducting baseline tests, and offering comprehensive teacher training and access to a resource center.


This holistic approach prepares children for school and empowers educators, making a significant impact on the community.

NJR Steel is dedicated to supporting the development of previously disadvantaged communities in a sustainable way, and giving back to South Africa through community upliftment, enterprise and supplier development and socio-economic development. 


We are committed to achieving a tangible BEE status, and addressing issues such as ownership, employment, development and procurement. Part of this partnership is facilitated through the formation of Khuthala Steel (Pty) Ltd which includes shareholding for some of our staff and embraces skills development and preferential procurement.
