Official Competition Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully.

By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by the rules set out below.


1. Promoter


The promoter of this competition is NJR Steel. This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Instagram or Facebook.


2. Eligibility


  • The competition is open to all South African citizens and legal residents aged 18 years or older.


  • Entry is not open to directors, members, partners, employees, agents, or consultants of NJR Steel, their marketing service providers, or any person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by these entities, including their spouses, life partners, business partners, or immediate family members.


  • No purchase is necessary to enter the competition. Participation will not require any payment beyond standard internet data costs. Should a participant need to purchase steel for their project, the cost must not exceed the ordinary retail price.


3. Competition Period


  • The competition runs from
         August 1, 2025, to September 30, 2025.


  • Entries received outside of this period will not be considered. The final deadline for all entries is September 30, 2025.


4. How to Enter


To enter, participants must showcase a DIY project where steel is the primary material. There are two ways to submit an entry:


  • Social Media Entry:
  • Post your entry publicly on Instagram or Facebook. Private profiles will not be considered.
  • The post must tag the official NJR Steel account
     @njrsteel.
  • The post must include the mandatory hashtag
     #NJRMadeOfSteel.
  • Failure to include the correct tag and hashtag will result in disqualification.


  • Email Entry:

Alternatively, participants can email their submission to
 promotions@njrsteel.co.za.


Entry Limit: Participants are limited to one entry. If multiple entries are submitted by the same person, all of that person's entries will be disqualified.


5. Entry Content and Format


  • Content: The submission must be an original DIY project created by the participant. Plagiarism or copyright infringement will lead to disqualification. The project must clearly feature steel as a primary material.


  • Format: Participants must submit either:
  • A 60-90 second video demonstrating the project.
  • 3-5 high-quality photos showcasing the project from multiple angles.


  • Required Information: The social media caption or email body must include the following details:
  • "What I Made & Why": A brief explanation of the project and its purpose.
  • "My Steel Story": A description of how steel was incorporated into the project. Mentioning NJR Steel as the source for materials is encouraged and will be viewed favorably by the judges.
  • "The Build in Action" (for videos) or "Key Features" (for photos):
  • Videos should show a glimpse of the building process (e.g., welding, cutting) or the final product in use.
  • Photos should be accompanied by a description of unique aspects or specific features.


6. Winner Selection and Judging


  • Winner selection will be conducted by a judging panel comprised of internal NJR Steel experts.


  • The judging process will be overseen by an independent accountant, registered auditor, or attorney to ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).


  • A shortlist of the top 10 entries will be created based on initial scoring. The panel will then deliberate to determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from this shortlist.


  • Entries will be judged based on the following equally weighted criteria (25% each):
  • Creativity & Innovation: Originality of the concept and imaginative design.
  • Workmanship & Quality: Skill demonstrated, attention to detail, and overall finish.
  • Effective Use of Steel: How integral steel is to the project and how well its strength and versatility are demonstrated. Projects highlighting the use of NJR Steel products will be noted.
  • Adherence to Requirements & Presentation: Quality of the submission and how well all entry instructions were followed.


7. Prizes


The following prizes will be awarded:


  • 1st Prize: R15,000 NJR Steel In-Store Voucher
  • 2nd Prize: R7,500 NJR Steel In-Store Voucher
  • 3rd Prize: R2,500 NJR Steel In-Store Voucher


Prize Redemption:


  • Prizes are awarded as in-store vouchers (store credit) and are redeemable at any NJR Steel branch nationwide.


  • Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.


8. Notification of Winners


  • Winners will be contacted via direct message (DM) on the social media platform they used for entry or via email if they submitted their entry that way.


  • NJR Steel will make three attempts to contact winners over three working days.


  • If a winner cannot be reached or does not respond within that timeframe, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner will be selected from the remaining shortlisted entries.


  • Winners must provide a valid South African ID document for verification.


  • The public announcement of winners will occur on or around
         October 3, 2025, on NJR Steel's social media channels and website, following verification.


9. General Terms


  • Content Usage: By entering the competition, participants grant NJR Steel permission to use their name, likeness, and submitted content (photos, videos, and project descriptions) for promotional purposes across all media, including the company website and social media channels, without further compensation.


  • Disqualification: Entries that are irrelevant, offensive, plagiarized, or do not adhere to the rules will be disqualified.


  • Compliance: This competition is held in compliance with the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA). All competition records will be retained for a minimum of three years after the competition ends.


  • Terms and Conditions Accessibility: These full terms and conditions will be available on the NJR Steel website for the duration of the competition.


  • NJR Steel reserves the right to amend, modify, or change these terms and conditions at any time, subject to any applicable laws or regulations.
