NJR Steel Strengthens Its Footprint in the Western Cape’s Agricultural Heartland 🌍

1 September 2026

Farming has never been an industry where standing still is an option.

From fencing and livestock management to storage, equipment protection and new farm infrastructure, farmers need solutions that are strong, practical and built to last. That is where having a reliable steel, roofing and fencing supplier makes a difference. 🔩

Across the Western Cape and surrounding agricultural regions, NJR Steel is bringing its extensive range of steel and related products closer to the market. With 26 branches across seven provinces, NJR Steel has grown into one of South Africa’s leading steel merchants – and continues to expand its presence in the Cape. 📍

Today, three NJR Steel branches serve the Western Cape’s agricultural community:

• Epping (Cape Town) 🏢

• Blackheath (Cape Town) 🏢

• Worcester, supporting the important Breede Valley farming hub 🌾

Farmers benefit from having access to a broad range of products from a single supplier. Whether the project involves repairing boundary fencing, building a new gate, securing livestock, creating a carport or tackling a larger agricultural structure, NJR Steel can supply the steel and associated products needed to get the job done. ⚒️

Fencing remains a major part of the range - from general farm fencing and security applications to gates, posts and supporting components. Instead of sourcing individual products from multiple suppliers, farmers can consolidate much of their steel and fencing requirements through NJR Steel. 🚧

And when the project needs a roof, NJR Steel has that covered too. The company supplies roofing solutions including corrugated, IBR and Wide Span sheeting, suitable for everything from small structures to barns, equipment storage and larger agricultural buildings. 🏠

From gates to storage barns, NJR Steel has the steel you need to build it. 💪

This September, NJR Steel Cape Town will be at NAMPO Cape in Bredasdorp, 9–12 September. 📅 If you’re planning a fencing project, replacing a roof, building a new agricultural structure or simply exploring options, visit the NJR Steel team at the show.

Last year, we asked South Africa a simple question: what have you built with steel? You answered with driveway gates, braai stands, security fencing, sculptures and structures that ranged from a weekend passion project to a full professional build. The response told us the Made of Steel Challenge had legs — so we're running it back for a second year, from 1 September to 31 October 2026 , with a few changes that make it fairer, clearer, and open to more of you. Here's what's new.

700,000 birds. 10 massive houses. One groundbreaking vision. 🚀🏗️ The South African poultry sector just took a massive leap forward with the launch of Tahila Broilers. This isn’t just another farm, it’s one of the most technologically advanced broiler operations in Africa, and NJR Steel Potchefstroom is proud to have been a part of it. From the structural steel to the specialized roofing, we helped turn Chris Travers’ "precision engineering" vision into a reality. 🇿🇦✨

We recently wrapped up our NJR Made of Steel DIY Challenge, and we were absolutely blown away by the incredible creativity and craftsmanship that South Africans brought to the table. We asked you to show us what you could build, and you truly delivered. One thing, in particular, became crystal clear: South Africans love to braai. It’s no secret that the braai is a core part of our national identity. It’s where we gather, where we celebrate, and where we share stories. This passion was the undeniable theme of our competition, with the vast majority of entries being some form of a custom-built, one-of-a-kind DIY braai. From complex smokers to portable wonders and everything in-between, the entries made the entire competition feel uniquely South African. We at NJR Steel were incredibly impressed by the ingenuity and passion that went into every single project.

This past October 26th, the streets of Joburg were alive with the familiar energy and excitement of the 94.7 Ride Joburg. For the NJR Steel team, however, this race represented something far greater than just kilometers and finish times. It was a "Ride For A Purpose," a powerful initiative dedicated to championing the incredible work of Seeds of Africa . This wasn't just about cycling; it was about community. It was about channeling the determination and endurance of a cycling race directly into the hands of those building a better future.
