As South Africa’s agricultural sector continues to innovate and adapt, NJR Steel Cape Town

took centre stage at NAMPO 2025, reinforcing our commitment to delivering practical, high-

quality steel and hardware solutions tailored for the farming community.


After the success of our 2024 showcase, our 2025 presence was bigger, bolder, and brimming with new

opportunities to engage, inspire, and deliver value.

NAMPO 2025: Context & Significance


The 57th NAMPO Harvest Day, held from 13 to 16 May in Bothaville, drew thousands of

visitors, exhibitors, and sector leaders keen to explore the future of agriculture.


Organisers expected over 920 exhibitors this year — a clear sign that NAMPO remains the premier

stage for agribusiness in Southern Africa. 


Under the theme “Global Agriculture, Local!”, the event emphasised how international

advances in agri-technology and innovation can be adapted and applied in South Africa’s

diverse landscapes.


From precision farming to resource-efficient practices, the message was

clear: sustainability and productivity go hand in hand.


For NJR Steel Cape Town, this year’s NAMPO was an opportunity to reaffirm relationships

with farmers, builders, and contractors — and to showcase some of our latest product

innovations and services.

What We Brought to the Show


Building on the success of our 2024 stand, we curated a display that balanced utility,

aesthetics, and innovation:


DeFence Security Fencing — our modular, versatile fencing system continues to

draw interest for its adaptability in agricultural, residential, and industrial settings.


Steel & Hardware Solutions — we brought a broad range of structural steel, mesh,

fasteners, paints, and hardware components, enabling visitors to source practically

“everything under one roof.”


Live Demonstrations & Build-Along Zones — to differentiate our stand, we ran daily

mini-build demos and invited visitors to try hands-on assembly of select components.


Engagement Activities — we continued our tradition of daily prize draws, social

media photo ops (remember our giant NJR chair from 2024?), and interactive

discussions with our technical team.


These elements combined to make our stand a vibrant hub — a place where visitors could

see, touch, and test real solutions.

More Live Builds — interactive, hands-on assembly remains a major draw. We’ll

expand demo zones and perhaps build a “challenge project” during the show days.


Segment-Focused Showcases — tailoring mini-exhibits for livestock, orchards, or

small-scale farmers may better resonate with niche segments.


Sustainability Messaging — with resource constraints more topical, we’ll highlight

eco-conscious materials, better corrosion protection, and lifecycle cost savings.


Stronger Youth & Innovation Link — cultivating relationships with agricultural

schools, tech start-ups, and student innovators helps position NJR as both supplier

and partner for the next generation.

Re-roofing a Landmark: NJR Delivers Engineering Precision at NWU Auditorium NJR Potchefstroom was recently commissioned by North-West University (NWU) to solve a persistent leak in the auditorium roof—a complex task due to the very low pitch of the existing structure. Rather than replace the roof entirely, the team opted to erect a new roof structure over the old one. This solution ensured minimal disruption to ongoing activities inside the auditorium. In the absence of an appointed architect, NJR joined the design team directly, offering both product expertise and technical input. Our proposed light steel truss system was reviewed and approved by the project’s structural engineer. The project posed significant engineering challenges. The 40-year-old auditorium had no CAD documentation—only original paper plans. The building’s large, kite-shaped roof spans 70 metres diagonally and 35 metres across the shorter axis, with perimeter wall heights reaching 12 metres.

Originally specified to secure the property boundary, the see-through DeFence panels and modular post system proved so versatile that they were soon deployed across a wide range of additional security applications on-site.
